ALTERNERGY HOLDINGS CORP. said its subsidiary Alternergy Tanay Wind Corp. has energized the transmission facilities of its 128-megawatt (MW) Tanay Wind Project, moving the project closer to business operations.<\/span><\/p>\n In an announcement on Thursday, the listed renewable energy company said the energization covers the project\u2019s 500-kilovolt (kV) substation and 500-kV transmission facilities, which can connect the wind farm to the national transmission network and enable it to deliver renewable energy to the Luzon grid.<\/p>\n The corporate said the milestone signals the project\u2019s readiness for integrated testing and business operations.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe successful energization of the Tanay Wind Project brings us one other step closer to delivering clean, reliable energy to Filipino consumers,\u201d Alternergy President Gerry P. Magbanua said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis can also be particularly significant since it represents the primary wind project energized under the Department of Energy\u2019s Green Energy Auction Program II (GEAP II), strengthening the country\u2019s renewable energy infrastructure and supports the Philippines\u2019 transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The corporate said the energization also marks the beginning of pre-commissioning activities ahead of business operations and revenue generation.<\/p>\n \u201cThis achievement reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire project team, in addition to the strong collaboration amongst government agencies, the provincial government of Rizal, the Municipality of Tanay, our host communities, contractors, lenders, and project partners,\u201d Mr. Magbanua said.<\/p>\n Alternergy said the project uses 8-MW wind turbines, which it described as the biggest installed in Southeast Asia outside China.<\/p>\n Once operational, the 128-MW wind farm is anticipated to generate about 283.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable electricity annually, enough to power about 118,125 households, while avoiding about 197,780 metric tons of carbon emissions annually.<\/span><\/p>\n The corporate is targeting to develop a further 500 MW of renewable energy capability in 2026 and expand its renewable energy portfolio to 1,000 MW by 2030.<\/p>\n Alternergy shares fell two centavos, or 2.56%, to 76 centavos apiece on Thursday. \u2014 Ashley Erika O.
