Brian Austin Green<\/strong> opened up about what his 15-year relationship with Megan Fox<\/strong> taught him about the best way to approach future connections.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil Sharna [Burgess]<\/strong>, my ex and I were together for nearly 15 years. We were married for nearly 10 years and I led with physical attraction,\u201d Green, 52, said on the Sunday, July 12, episode of the \u201cI Do, Part 2\u201d podcast<\/a>. \u201cFirst, I\u2019d be physically interested in anyone after which kind of construct a relationship around that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green selected a \u201cdifferent\u201d approach with Burgess, 41.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used to be divorced, which I didn\u2019t expect. I had three kids. I used to be a single parent,\u201d he recalled. \u201cAnd I knew that I didn\u2019t wish to repeat things that I had done. So I went through all types of therapy and all types of things to actually determine what it was that I brought right into a relationship that was just toxic and wasn\u2019t good and wasn\u2019t helping the connection in any respect.\u201d<\/p>\n

After putting within the work, Green realized he needed to \u201cbe friends with someone first\u201d before pursuing a romantic relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe while you began from a spot of a real reference to someone, you then\u2019re not so concerned about whether or not they are truly into you or not,\u201d he explained, \u201csince you guys are already talking to one another in a really transparent way. Sharna and I talked about our greatest qualities and our worst qualities together. We kind of put all of it out on the table.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green was glad he built an emotional reference to Burgess first.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us, it was pretty apparent then like, \u2018Oh, hey, we must always keep on with us. This appears to be working,’\u201d he continued. \u201cYour approach to a relationship is the perfect option to know if it\u2019s only a purely physical connection. That\u2019s only going to last for therefore long that you just\u2019re going to get to some extent where you go, \u2018I can\u2019t stand that other person. So that they\u2019re not hot to me anymore.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Green rose to fame on Beverly Hills, 90210, where he dated castmates Tori Spelling, Tiffani Thiessen<\/strong> and Vanessa Marcil<\/strong>. He later found love with Fox, 40, after meeting on the set of her sitcom Hope & Faith<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The pair began dating in 2004 and got engaged two years later. They briefly broke up in 2009 but eventually reconnected and tied the knot in 2010. Us Weekly exclusively reported in 2015 that Fox and Green had split, but they were back together by the next yr.<\/p>\n

Though Fox filed for divorce in 2015, the case was dismissed in 2019 2019. Green announced in 2020 that he and Fox had split for good.<\/p>\n

The exes share kids Noah, 13, Bodhi, 12,and Journey, 9. During Sunday\u2019s podcast episode, Green spoke about coparenting along with his ex after their split.<\/p>\n
