Spanish officials have confirmed that five British people have been killed within the wildfires after the identification of more victims. <\/p>\n

One other three people were identified yesterday afternoon and officials said one was from the UK.<\/p>\n

The identities of the last three of the 13 victims remain unconfirmed, but that is anticipated to alter later today.<\/p>\n

Earlier, police said a 93-year-old woman who died in hospital was British and three of the primary six identified through DNA tests and matches with family members were also from the UK.<\/p>\n

They include expat couple Pete and Fran Gillam, whose Sheffield-based daughter Danielle Gillam-Kirton had flown to Spain from her home within the UK after they failed to answer her messages and public appeals for information on their whereabouts.<\/p>\n

She said in a Facebook post yesterday: \u2018Natalie Gillam Lindsay and I are heartbroken to share that we’ve received confirmation from the police that Mum and Dad didn’t survive the fireplace.<\/p>\n

\u2018We’re still trying to return to terms with this devastating news and ask for some privacy and time as we process all the pieces.<\/p>\n

\u2018Thanks for all of your love, support, and prayers over the past few days. They’ve meant more to us than we will ever express.<\/p>\n

The devastating wildfire began last Thursday in Los Gallardos within the south-east Spanish province of Almeria before spreading to neighbouring Bedar where many UK pensioners live.<\/p>\n

Confirming the variety of British victims had risen to 5 yesterday evening, the High Court of Andalucia said: \u2018Throughout the course of the afternoon, the identification of three more victims of the Los Gallardos fire has been accomplished. On this case, they’re a married couple of Belgian origin and a lady from the UK.<\/p>\n

\u2018With these three latest identifications, there could be three of the thirteen victims attributable to the fireplace still to be identified, for the reason that British woman who died within the hospital didn’t must be identified.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Civil and Investigating Section of the Vera Court of First Instance, Court No. 3, which is liable for the removal of the bodies, has already confirmed the nine identifications.<\/p>\n

\u2018In total, the victims of the fireplace identified up to now are 4 men and five women, eight of whom are foreign nationals and one Spanish.<\/p>\n

\u2018Of the thirteen individuals who died\u2014one among them within the hospital\u2014five were from the UK, three from Belgium, one from France, and one was a Spanish citizen. All of them were adults.<\/p>\n

\u2018The primary six identifications of the victims of the Los Gallardos fire took place this morning. Amongst those identified were a married couple by which the husband was Spanish and the wife was a citizen of the UK.<\/p>\n

\u2018A person and a lady from the UK, a lady from France, and a person from Belgium have also been identified.<\/p>\n

\u2018The victims\u2019 families have already been notified in these nine cases. The notification is carried out in person by uniformed officers of the Guardia Civil accompanied by a psychologist.<\/p>\n

One other three Brits who suffered serious burns but survived are believed to be among the many 4 patients airlifted to a specialist burns unit at a hospital in Seville. <\/p>\n

A British couple miraculously survived the flames after becoming trapped in a ravine during a hike. <\/p>\n

Rescuers found them semi-conscious and with 40% burns on their bodies, but alive near Bedar. <\/p>\n

Metro has approached the Foreign Office for a comment. <\/p>\n
