A couple of days remain before the discharge of The Odyssey<\/em> and excitement is tremendous. The thrill skyrocketed after Christopher Nolan, Tom Holland and Matt Damon visited Mumbai, and now all eyes are on the film’s opening. Given the hype, the advance booking was thrown open way back on June 8, that’s, greater than a month before the film\u2019s release.<\/p>\n

EXCLUSIVE: The Odyssey set for a WIDE 2,500+ screen release in India; sells 91,000 IMAX tickets; goals for a Rs. 20 cr opening<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Based on data accessed by Bollywood Hungama<\/strong>, The Odyssey<\/em> has sold around 1.25 lakh tickets for the opening day \u2013 50,000 tickets in PVR Inox and 12,000 in Cinepolis. The film has sold nearly 2.50 lakh tickets for the weekend. PVR Inox declared in a social media post that 1.2 lakh tickets of The Odyssey<\/em> have been sold as of Monday night.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, 91,000 tickets have been sold across India\u2019s 34 IMAX screens, generating Rs. 9.5 crore in gross ticket sales. Christopher Nolan\u2019s movies are widely thought to be must-watch theatrical experiences in IMAX, and the anticipation is even greater for The Odyssey<\/em>, which is the primary feature film to be shot entirely using IMAX cameras. This has fuelled exceptional demand for the premium format and resulted in robust ticket sales.<\/p>\n

Christopher Nolan\u2019s previous film, Oppenheimer<\/em> (2023), sold 2 lakh tickets upfront, a benchmark The Odyssey<\/em> will look to surpass. Oppenheimer<\/em> opened at Rs. 14.45 crore, and The Odyssey<\/em> is anticipated to raised that number as well. A gap of Rs. 17-18 crores is anticipated, but when advance bookings pick up over the subsequent days significantly, a Rs. 20 crores opening can\u2019t be ruled out.<\/p>\n

Screen count<\/strong><\/p>\n

Considering the pre-release hype, The Odyssey<\/em> will get a release in 2,500+ screens. Then again, Oppenheimer<\/em> released in 1923 screens.<\/p>\n

Overall, it\u2019s going to be an ideal July for the industry and exhibitors. Dhamaal 4<\/em> has performed way beyond expectations. The Odyssey<\/em> are expected to be an enormous box office success, the advance sales. Lastly, July will end on a rocking note with Spider-Man: Brand Latest Day<\/em>, whose advance can also be electrifying.<\/p>\n
