\n\t\u201cThe Claudia Winkleman Show\u201d is officially being canceled after one season. Variety<\/em> understands it was host Claudia Winkleman\u2019s decision to not return.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m incredibly grateful to the BBC for giving me the chance, to the guests who agreed to come back and chat to me, and the production team who were simply excellent,\u201d Winkleman said in a press release.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cSometimes you’ve gotten to try something to see the way it matches, and I realised I used to be just too nervous to enjoy it. Possibly sooner or later I’ll give it one other try, but for now I have already got the very best jobs on the earth and absolutely love the shows I\u2019m doing.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWinkleman, who’s best known for hosting \u201cThe Traitors U.K.\u201d and \u201cStrictly Come Dancing\u201d (the British version of \u201cDancing With the Stars\u201d), launched her eponymous talk show in February of this 12 months. The show, a sit-down chat on a settee with celebrities, was meant to function a complement to Graham Norton\u2019s while he was on hiatus between seasons. Like \u201cThe Graham Norton Show,\u201d Winkleman\u2019s was also broadcast on Friday nights. Norton\u2019s production company So Television was even a co-producer.<\/p>\n \n\tNonetheless, the reviews were lukewarm and rankings were inconsistent, mostly falling wanting Norton\u2019s 1.1 million+. And while she managed to get some impressive guests \u2014 the debut episode featured Jeff Goldblum, Jennifer Saunders, Vanessa Williams and Tom Allen \u2014 the rest of the seven-episode series didn\u2019t emit much star-wattage (the penultimate episode feature Mr Blobby while the last was a compilation show).<\/p>\n \n\tStill, a second season was rumored to be on the cards, with the ball said to be in Winkleman\u2019s court. She has now confirmed she won\u2019t return.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cClaudia\u2019s warmth and quick wit made \u2018The Claudia Winkleman Show\u2019 an absolute joy,\u201d said Ed Havard, the BBC\u2019s director of entertainment. \u201cWhilst we loved the show, we fully respect her decision and would love to thank Claudia and the good team at So Television for bringing the series to screen on the BBC.
