A minimum of seven drones were spotted near Switzerland\u2019s G\u00f6sgen nuclear power plant, sparking a big police response.<\/p>\n

The mystery drones were spotted around 10.30pm yesterday and reported by a resident.<\/p>\n

The protection of the ability plant was not compromised throughout the incident, with the pinnacle of communications <\/a>for the plant saying the threat posed by drones was \u2018negligible\u2019.<\/p>\n

As is often the case around power plants, a no-fly zone is in place around G\u00f6sgen.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Russia\u00a0launched tons of of drones and covert UAVs across the UK and Europe from their shadow fleet, considered in preparation for a future conflict.<\/p>\n

The International Institute of Strategic Studies issued a\u00a0sobering report<\/a>\u00a0that found Vladimir Putin\u2019s shadow fleet ships had sent drones to focus on airports, bases, and nuclear sites.<\/p>\n

Among the many sites affected by the spy drones were\u00a0RAF\u00a0Fairford, Feltwell, Lakenheath and Mildenhall, and dozens of web sites across continental Europe.<\/p>\n

\u2018We assess it is probably going that Russian-linked vessels and the \u201cshadow fleet\u201d were used as launch or recovery platforms for UAVs as a part of the Kremlin\u2019s wider unconventional war on Europe,\u2019 they warned.<\/p>\n

Since 2024, mystery drone sightings have plagued airports, military bases and civilian areas as Russia increasingly tests the bounds of its spyware.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Kremlin was likely in a position to map response times, coverage gaps and limitations across European integrated air defences,\u2019 the IISS added.<\/p>\n

The drones spied on critical infrastructure as well, to prompt a \u2018decisive opening operation in high-intensity conflict\u2019, the report warned.<\/p>\n

Cyber threats, mysterious drone incursions and other incidents have all been attributed to foreign actors.<\/p>\n

In late 2024, it was reported that a \u2018record variety of incidents\u2019 impacted the UK\u2019s \u2018critical\u2019 drinking water supplies in 2024 \u2013 without being officially disclosed, in keeping with\u00a0Recorded Future News<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Between August 2023 and March 2024 alone, 46,000 flights in areas equivalent to the Baltic,\u00a0Black Sea\u00a0and eastern Mediterranean\u00a0logged interference issues \u2013 believed to be resulting from Russian interference.<\/p>\n
