Actor Paresh Rawal has opened up about how much he despised the extreme media coverage that followed Sushant Singh Rajput\u2019s death in 2020. Speaking on Vicky Lalwani\u2019s podcast, Rawal didn’t hold back while describing his response to the way in which the case was reported.<\/p>\n

Paresh Rawal says he \u201cbloody hated\u201d media circus around Sushant Singh Rajput\u2019s death, explains why he left politics<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The conversation began with Lalwani referencing Rawal\u2019s decision to remain off news channels throughout the COVID-19 lockdown. Rawal said, \u201cMera toh BP ki wajah se bhai\u201d (In my case, it was due to my blood pressure, brother), attributing the choice to his health.<\/p>\n Lalwani then pointed to the extensive television coverage surrounding Rajput\u2019s death, which occurred on June 14, 2020, in Mumbai, describing how the case had become a media spectacle throughout the lockdown. Rawal responded bluntly, saying, \u201cSushant Singh wala jo circus tha woh toh I bloody hated it\u201d (As for the circus around Sushant Singh, I bloody hated it).<\/p>\n Rawal also reflected on his transient stint in politics, having served as a BJP Member of Parliament from Ahmedabad East after winning the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He admitted the fact of the job didn’t match his expectations, citing the workload and constant travel.<\/p>\n He said, \u201cMaine isliye chhod diya ki mera kaam nahin hai\u201d (I left since it wasn’t my calling), adding that he had entered politics just for a limited purpose and viewed it as a noble career that demanded complete commitment.<\/p>\n He added that he ultimately selected to return to acting, a craft he had spent many years honing, saying, \u201cAbhi ye samajh lo mera craft ke oopar thoda bahut control aya hain\u201d (I even have finally gained some control over my craft).<\/p>\n Rawal explained that one among his biggest concerns while in politics was making guarantees he couldn’t keep, given his limited understanding of how the system functioned. He said, \u201cPrincipal bolunga karta hoon karta hoon, 2-3 baar fundamental jhooth bolunga. Mere andar se fundamental ek jhootha aadmi ban raha hoon.\u201d (I’ll keep saying, I’m doing it, I’m doing it, After doing that two or thrice, I could be lying. I could be turning right into a dishonest person.), adding that repeating this may hurt his craft as an actor.<\/p>\n Having stepped back from politics, Rawal has continued to concentrate on his acting profession.
