\u200bworld\u2019s largest instrument maker, asking them to stop manufacturing and selling Strat lookalikes headed \u200bfor Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Thomann didn&#8217;t immediately reply to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Strat-shaped instruments have been sold by manufacturers large and small at various price points for many years, with the form becoming so \u200bubiquitous that it serves because the generic emoji symbol for \u201cguitar\u201d in most major \u200boperating systems.<\/p>\n<div class=\"c-tabs\">\n<p>\n\t\t\t<button role=\"tab\" class=\"c-tabs__tab c-tabs__tab--active\" copyright around it, including against boutique guitar builders, ignited an \u200conline backlash amongst some guitar influencers.<\/p>\n<p>Thomann in June filed a legal motion called a \u201cdeclaration of non-infringement\u201d against Fender, arguing that Fender didn&#8217;t have a sound copyright to the Strat body shape, partly since the Fender ruling in March got here in \u200bthe shape of a \u200bdefault judgment against \u2060a smaller online seller that didn&#8217;t show up in D\u00fcsseldorf court to challenge Fender\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<p>In its filing this week, \u200bFender said it sells about 500,000 Strats per yr, with \u200b34,000 of \u2060those sold in Germany.
