A youngster from London was found underwater after he vanished whilst swimming on a faculty trip.<\/p>\n

Eugene Enoch Kwon, 17, from Hampton in London, was snorkelling with schoolmates on a camping trip to Malawi on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

A search was launched in Monkey Bay in Lake Malawi, and he was found underwater.<\/p>\n

He was rushed to hospital but died. His reason for death was suffocation attributable to drowning, police said.<\/p>\n

Supt Patrick Mussa, of the Malawi Police Service\u2019s Eastern Region Police Headquarters, said the boy\u2019s disappearance prompted an \u2018immediate search operation\u2019.<\/p>\n

He added: \u2018After an intensive search, divers positioned him underwater.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Police within the Eastern Region have since expressed their condolences to the bereaved family, while investigations into the incident proceed.\u2019<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Hampton School, a non-public school for boys in Richmond upon Thames, confirmed that one in every of its students had died on the college camping trip.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson added: \u2018Our thoughts, love and deepest sympathies are with the pupil\u2019s family and family members at this unimaginably difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u2018At present, our focus is supporting the pupil\u2019s family and everybody affected inside our faculty community.\u2019<\/p>\n
