Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says talks underway with Aditya Dhar for Lachit Borphukan biopic<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In line with the chief minister, the proposed film goals to bring the life and legacy of certainly one of Assam’s most celebrated historical figures to a national and international audience through a Bollywood-scale production.<\/p>\n Sharing an update on the project, Sarma said discussions are currently being held with Aditya Dhar, best known for guiding the National Award-winning Uri: The Surgical Strike<\/em> and the upcoming Dhurandhar<\/em>.<\/p>\n The chief minister also revealed that he’s scheduled to fulfill Dhar in August to debate the proposed film intimately.<\/p>\n Nonetheless, Sarma clarified that the project just isn’t depending on a single filmmaker: “If Aditya Dhar is unable to direct the film, we’ll approach other directors. The target is to make sure that a grand biopic on Lachit Borphukan is made,” he said.<\/p>\n If the collaboration moves forward, it might mark the primary time the Assam government backs a Bollywood-scale feature film based on the lifetime of Lachit Borphukan.<\/p>\n Sarma said the vision behind the project is to introduce audiences across India and the world to Assam’s history and the military achievements of the Ahom commander.<\/p>\n Lachit Borphukan is considered certainly one of Assam’s best military leaders and stays a revered figure within the state’s history. He’s best known for leading the Ahom army to victory against the Mughal forces within the historic Battle of Saraighat in 1671.<\/p>\n His leadership, courage and strategic brilliance have made him a logo of patriotism and resilience in Assam.
