Kelly Clarkson <\/strong>is breaking down the meaning behind her latest single, \u201cI\u2019d Be Lyin\u2019.\u201d.<\/p>\n

Clarkson, 44, released the song on Friday, July 17, singing about an interaction with a mystery person.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d be lyin\u2019 if I said I do \/ You\u2019re hearin\u2019 only what you\u2019re wantin\u2019 to \/ I take a shot each time you lie \/ I\u2019ve never been so rattling drunk in my life,\u201d the lyrics read.<\/p>\n

Clarkson recently reflected on the song\u2019s significance during a broadcast on her SiriusXM channel, The Kelly Clarkson Connection<\/em>. \u201cSo mainly my latest song, \u2018I\u2019d Be Lyin\u2019,\u2019 is about once you\u2019re talking to someone and it\u2019s like what you\u2019re saying is in some way being filtered since it\u2019s not what they\u2019re hearing,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd if I just leaned in and just said what they wanted to listen to, I can be lying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarkson noted that she had a selected vision for a way the \u201canthem\u201d would sound.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe vibe within the verse is sort of, it\u2019s not like Prince, but it surely\u2019s definitely Prince-inspired with the staccato sort of poppiness of it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt has a whole lot of attitude, after which the chorus sort of opens up into this major pop-rock vibe that may be very paying homage to a Kelly Clarkson empowerment anthem.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cBut yeah, it\u2019s very sarcastic and it was fun as hell to make, and I like a fun, anthemic, sarcastic song.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d Be Lyin\u2019\u201d is Clarkson\u2019s first single since 2025\u2019s \u201cWhere Have You Been.\u201d She previously credited the romance between Martin Short<\/strong> and Meryl Streep<\/strong>\u2019s characters in Only Murders within the Constructing<\/em> for uplifting that song.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve rarely done something like this, but I used to be watching Only Murders within the Constructing \u2014 it\u2019s Martin Short\u2019s face,\u201d she shared on The Kelly Clarkson Connection on the time. \u201cHe says to Meryl Streep\u2019s character within the show, \u2018Where have you ever been?\u2019 He\u2019s, like, in awe and I used to be like, \u2018Has there been a \u2014 has anyone written a song?\u2019 Since the song is completely satisfied. It\u2019s such as you found something that you simply thought was almost mainly a unicorn and didn’t exist.\u201d<\/p>\n
