Xbox<\/a>\u2019s chief strategy officer has confirmed that more \u201ceverlasting\u201d exclusives are coming to the platform, while offering an evidence that doesn\u2019t really clear things up much.<\/p>\n

Ever since Asha Sharma became Xbox\u2019s CEO and made it clear that she was listening to fans (for higher and worse), it\u2019s seemed inevitable that the corporate was quickly attempting to move back to exclusives. Considering Xbox\u2019s undeniably profitable move to third-party releases began just two years ago, it was anyone\u2019s guess how that may occur.<\/p>\n

As a substitute of being saved for a gargantuan release like The Elder Scrolls 6 and even the subsequent Halo, Xbox\u2019s exclusive strategy was confirmed to begin with Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution. It\u2019s been somewhat unclear what the long-term way forward for exclusives looks like, and a few recent comments haven\u2019t helped much.<\/p>\n

\n At Least Xbox Knows The Strategy Isn\u2019t Clear

Yesterday, GamesRadar+ published an interview<\/a> with Xbox\u2019s chief content officer Matt Booty and chief strategy officer Matthew Ball concerning the company\u2019s return to exclusives. Ball starts by debunking the claims that even Xbox staff were surprised by the move, noting that the choice was made \u201cvery early\u201d on by latest CEO Asha Sharma.<\/p>\n

Booty confirms that exclusives are here to remain, as people need a reason to purchase an Xbox, and that they act as a \u201creward\u201d for supporters. It was also reconfirmed that E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will not be timed exclusives and are as an alternative \u201ceverlasting ones\u201d that shall be joined by other titles in the long run. As Ball puts it, \u201cThese will not be going to be the one two titles\u201d.<\/p>\n

As for what games could develop into exclusives, that is where things get confusing. Gears and Clockwork suggest it\u2019s single-player games that shall be exclusive, but Booty says to not \u201coverly fixate\u201d on that, because it\u2019s not guaranteed. Booty claims that the team has to take into consideration how \u201cdifferent games serve different purposes\u201d, which doesn\u2019t really say anything.<\/p>\n

In case your head is hurting somewhat bit, you\u2019re not alone. On the very least, Ball acknowledged that the \u201cframework for these selections\u201d isn\u2019t obvious to players, and that the team is \u201ccommitted to creating this clearer\u201d. For now, though, we’re just going to need to wait and see what Xbox has planned for a few of its future releases.<\/p>\n

From the sounds of it, though, Xbox could be hesitant to say all single-player games are exclusives when something like The Elder Scrolls can reach such massive audiences on all consoles, while something like Gears and the subsequent Halo are more quintessentially Xbox. That\u2019s only a guess, however it’s the most effective we have got for now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
