The teaser of Mirzapur: The Movie<\/em> recently gave audiences their first glimpse of the franchise’s transition from streaming to the massive screen. As discussions proceed around how the series’ signature violence and powerful language will translate to theatres, director Gurmmeet Singh has shared that the makers are developing the film with an Adults Only certification in mind.<\/p>\n

Speaking concerning the certification process, Singh said the team has tried to retain the essence of Mirzapur<\/em> while working inside the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) guidelines.<\/p>\n

“We’re targeting an Adults Only certification immediately. Then, in fact, the CBFC has its own guidelines regarding language, what we will say, and what we will not. We have tried to administer that and strike the suitable balance.”<\/p>\n

Director believes audiences are open to mature storytelling<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Singh also said he believes audiences have turn out to be more receptive to movies made for mature viewers, allowing filmmakers greater creative freedom.<\/p>\n

“I also think audiences have matured. In the event you take a look at movies like Animal<\/em>, Dhurandhar<\/em>, and a number of other other recent releases, you may see that adult storytelling is now finding space in theatres. I believe that has also set a precedent, allowing us to bring something like Mirzapur: The Movie<\/em> to the massive screen without watering it down.”<\/p>\n

Star-studded forged returns for the big-screen adaptation<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Mirzapur: The Movie<\/em> brings back several familiar faces from the favored crime franchise, including Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Divyenndu Sharma. The ensemble forged also features Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Malik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi and Sonal S. Chauhan.<\/p>\n

Presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, the film is directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna. It’s produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serving as co-producers.<\/p>\n

Mirzapur: The Movie<\/em> is scheduled to release in theatres on September 4, 2026, in Hindi and Telugu.<\/p>\n
