Country singer Rory Feek<\/strong> revealed his 12-year-old daughter Indiana is out of the hospital eight days after experiencing complications from open heart surgery.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndy\u2019s doing amazing and searching and feeling higher than ever,\u201d Rory, 61, revealed in a Substack blog<\/a> on Monday, July 20. \u201cJust about completely her old self. And although she\u2019s enthusiastic about getting back to sleeping in her big girl bedroom\u2026for the following few nights, Mama\u2019s not taking any probabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

He clarified, \u201cShe\u2019s sleeping in a bed on the foot of ours.\u201d<\/p>\n

The musician initially announced on June 22 that he and wife Rebecca Feek<\/strong> were preparing Indiana for surgery to repair a hole in her heart. She was later admitted back to the hospital in July when fluid built up round her heart. (Indy has Down syndrome, which could be linked to heart issues, per the National Down Syndrome Society<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRory Feek, who’s in an ongoing family dispute over the welfare of his youngest daughter, Indiana, claimed on his personal blog that he tried to personally reach out so as to talk matters over along with his adult daughters, but was rebuffed. In a blog entry titled \u201cCanceled\u201d published Tuesday, September 17, on his website, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve known for the last couple of months that this was on the horizon. This is a component of why we\u2019re here in Texas,\u201d Rory wrote about her surgery in June. \u201cThroughout February and March, we visited a pair of various children\u2019s hospitals across the state and ultimately decided to do it at Dell Children\u2019s Medical Center in Austin. It\u2019s an incredible facility with a beautiful staff, and Dr. Frasier, who will probably be doing the surgery, is one in every of the perfect pediatric cardiac surgeons on the earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201c[We\u2019re] preparing her for something that\u2019s going to be very hard on her. Hard on all of us, especially her Papa, to see her undergo a lot difficulty and pain. But I also know that when it\u2019s done, it\u2019s going to make her life higher.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rory had a really positive update on Monday, revealing that Indy was officially released from the hospital eight days after her complications arose. (Rory welcomed Indy along with his late wife and musical partner, Joey Feek<\/strong>. He married his third wife, Rebecca, in 2024.)<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter we got back home here to the little farmhouse we\u2019ve been renting, as Rebecca and I unpacked (thankfully, some folks here had secretly showed up and cleaned up the home, since we had left every part in such a rush last Thursday morning), Indy and her friends went through more of the sweet cards and letters and played some games together in her bedroom,\u201d he wrote. \u201cTruthfully, the outpouring of affection from everyone \u2014 some we all know and most we\u2019ll probably never meet \u2014 that we\u2019ve received in the previous couple of weeks, has been absolutely humbling for our whole family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indy\u2019s medical issues have reignited a conflict\u00a0with the Feek family. Amid her hospitalization, Rory\u2019s older daughters, Heidi<\/strong>, 39, and Hopie<\/strong>, 38 \u2014 from his first marriage to Tamara Gilmer<\/strong> \u2014 criticized their father for publicizing Indy\u2019s surgery.<\/p>\n

Heidi and Hopie took legal motion against their dad in the autumn of 2024, claiming that he\u2019d cut them off from contacting Indy due to a family dispute over her care. The case is ongoing, as of publication.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday my father posted a Substack post where he detailed how she essentially almost died, in line with him. And while I\u2019m glad that she\u2019s doing higher and that she\u2019s okay, in line with him in that Substack post, I’m upset that I came upon on Instagram,\u201d Heidi said in a vlog on July 12 \u201cI’m still upset due to the continuing exploitation of my little sister on his monetized Substack account.\u201d<\/p>\n

She argued that Rory mustn’t be sharing Indy\u2019s \u201cvulnerable moments\u201d for social media content before criticizing him for promoting his song \u201cThank You Lord\u201d at the tip of his post.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not a moment to be taking photos, that\u2019s not a moment to be blogging about, and it\u2019s not a moment to be self-promoting or promoting your organization performing your song,\u201d she insisted. \u201cAll of it makes me absolutely sick to my stomach.\u201d<\/p>\n
