When he joined WWE in 2005, CM Punk was coming off a generational run as an independent star. Based on many, he walked into the promotion with a chip on his shoulder and a knack for getting under people’s skin, especially his WWE superiors. Punk’s past issues with Vince McMahon and Paul “Triple H” Levesque are a matter of public knowledge, and in response to the person himself, his relationship with Vince’s daughter Stephanie McMahon wasn’t exactly great, either.<\/p>\n

“Our relationship was f**king weird, and I look back at it now, and I’m similar to: all of it just boils right down to communication, ?” Punk said during an appearance on\u00a0“What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon<\/a>,” and McMahon agreed with Punk’s assertion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We sort of danced around one another,” she said. “But I do not think that was ’cause neither certainly one of us desired to consult with one another, I just think circumstances were what they were.”<\/p>\n

Recalling a conversation she once had with Punk about her onscreen character, McMahon stated that she’s heard various people discuss negative interactions with him, but said she’d personally never had a negative experience. “It was such an excellent conversation, and I all the time loved your perspective on things,” she claimed. “But again,\u00a0I wasn’t within the decision-making role related to anything you were going through, but I might hear all about it.”<\/p>\n

Punk added that he now higher understands her position because the boss’ daughter, joking that it could be strange for her to work anywhere aside from WWE. “The value you pay, being the boss’ daughter, is people \u2013 they are going to say: ‘No! You bought handed this!'” he noted. “But that doesn’t suggest you are not busting your ass!”<\/p>\n
