The Bachelor<\/em>\u2019s Sean Lowe<\/strong> has broken his silence on his son\u2019s type 1 diabetes diagnosis.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It\u2019s] been loads to process,\u201d Lowe, 42, said in an Instagram video on Thursday, July 23, revealing that his wife, Catherine Giudici<\/strong>, recently took their kids \u2014 Samuel, 10, Isaiah, 8, and Mia, 6 \u2014 to a routine pediatrician\u2019s appointment, where the doctor noticed some weight reduction in Isaiah.<\/p>\n

After Giudici, 40, mentioned that Isaiah had been urinating more often, the doctor ordered a glucose test. They were then instructed to go to the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we were there Tuesday through Friday, and yeah, it was loads,\u201d Lowe continued. \u201cIt was hard because, so far as we knew, and Isaiah knew, he was a healthy boy. He didn\u2019t really show any symptoms outside of frequent urination, and the subsequent thing he knows, he\u2019s getting blood tests and shots every two hours, which in fact he hates as an 8-year-old.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSean Lowe and wife Catherine Giudici\u2019s three children, especially youngest daughter Mia, are growing up before their very eyes. \u201cMia is like 4 happening 18,\u201d Lowe, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly while discussing his partnership with Kevin\u2019s Natural Foods. \u201cShe already has a giant personality on her and she or he\u2019s plowing through preschool and making [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lowe added that it was \u201cincredibly difficult\u201d to observe his son \u201cprincipally scream for help.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re attempting to tell him, \u2018Hey, buddy, you have got to. It\u2019s good for you. It\u2019s medicine.\u2019 But in fact, 8-year-olds don\u2019t fully understand that,\u201d he noted. \u201cSo, anyway, we’re grateful that our pediatrician was smart enough to do the blood test, and all of the doctors and nurses at Children\u2019s Health in Dallas were amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lowe added that he and his family are \u201cgetting through it,\u201d although Isaiah has struggled with getting five shots a day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe toughest part, outside of that, is just type of the acknowledgement that his freedom to snack as he pleases, or go to a friend\u2019s house and have lunch, like, he can\u2019t do this anymore because we now have to remain on top of his carbs and insulin and all that stuff,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut what we keep being told over and once again is it can turn out to be normal. It\u2019s the brand new normal, and he\u2019s doing great. Hates the shots, but as soon as he gets the shot, he\u2019s back to his old tricks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lowe concluded by thanking fans for his or her support and promising to maintain his followers updated.<\/p>\n

Giudici first revealed Isaiah\u2019s diagnosis via Instagram on Tuesday, July 21.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis past week has been a rough one for the Lowes. Our precious boy Isaiah was admitted to Children\u2019s Hospital and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes,\u201d she wrote. \u201cOur wonderful pediatrician noticed some symptoms at our annual appointment that stuck out to her.\u201d<\/p>\n
