Stephen Fulton Jr.\u2019s fight with Liam Wilson has been canceled after the previous two-division world champion didn’t make weight for Saturday\u2019s scheduled bout in Sydney, Australia.<\/p>\n

The competition had already been downgraded from a WBA junior lightweight title eliminator after Fulton\u2019s team requested a catchweight of 133 kilos earlier within the week. On Friday\u2019s official weigh-in day, the fight was scrapped entirely.<\/p>\n

Fulton admitted before the cancellation that he was struggling to make 130 kilos. He said Wilson\u2019s team had already been warned concerning the weight issue behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI discussed something about it, a \u2018behind the doors\u2019 kind of thing. It was (an official request), but I needed to make the burden, regardless of what. (In response, promoters told him) \u2018Attempt to make the burden.\u2019 And that\u2019s what I\u2019m doing, and that\u2019s what I did. That\u2019s why I didn\u2019t come yesterday \u2019cause I\u2019m sitting here attempting to make the burden. I\u2019d relatively miss a media workout than not fight. I\u2019m trying to avoid wasting the cardboard and my slot, in order that\u2019s why I didn\u2019t show up yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Fulton also revealed that he plans to go away the division after struggling to achieve the junior lightweight limit for a second straight fight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI might most definitely campaign as a light-weight moving forward,\u201d said Fulton.<\/p>\n

Wilson accepted the late move to 133 kilos before the bout was eventually canceled, saying the additional allowance didn’t trouble him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI only worry about what happens on my side of the fence, what\u2019s happens on his side is as much as him. I\u2019ve fought guys like him before. They\u2019ve are available heavy. They don\u2019t work that onerous, or they think they’ve a bonus over you. Whatever it might be if he must be a greater version of himself coming in heavy, so be it,\u201d said Wilson.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anything, it\u2019s sort of relieving, less weight to lose. I\u2019m an expert. 130 was the burden limit, and I used to be prepared to make that weight, but less weight to lose is healthier for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The cancellation is one other disappointment for the Tim Tszyu vs. Errol Spence Jr. undercard after Jermall Charlo\u2019s scheduled bout with Koen Mazoudier was also faraway from the show earlier within the week.<\/p>\n
