\u201cContrast between Rama and Ravana is what makes Ramayana timeless,\u201d says Yash<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n During a media interaction, the actor said the story’s enduring appeal lies within the contrasting journeys of Lord Rama and Ravana.<\/p>\n Reflecting on the themes of the epic, Yash said, “To inform a story, you wish good and bad, good and evil.”<\/p>\n Explaining the contrast between the 2 central characters, he added, “Lord Rama is someone who’s born as a king, but he goes into situations where he has to lose the whole lot after which regain all his power through his behaviour and the sort of actions he takes. But Ravana starts with nothing, becomes powerful after which, sometimes, like they are saying, once you fight a demon, you find yourself becoming an even bigger one. You might have to be very careful with that.”<\/p>\n In accordance with Yash, this contrast is what has kept the Ramayana relevant over time.<\/p>\n The actor described Ravana as a layered character slightly than a standard antagonist. He said Ravana had mastered many arts and possessed immense knowledge, but was ultimately unable to manage the facility he acquired.<\/p>\n Yash noted that this inner contradiction is what makes Ravana one in all mythology’s most compelling figures.<\/p>\n Speaking about his personal association with the Ramayana, Yash recalled hearing its stories as a toddler from his grandfather. “It’s probably the primary story I ever heard. My grandfather used to inform me these stories, and also you construct your individual imagination around them,” he said.<\/p>\n Talking about his preparation for the role, Yash shared that he was more curious about understanding Ravana’s motivations than attempting to reinvent the character.<\/p>\n “What do you bring to it as an actor? What’s your understanding of the character?” he said, recalling the questions he asked himself while preparing. Crediting director Nitesh Tiwari and the writing team, Yash added, “I wanted to know what made him do the things he did.
