Zach Gilford\u2019s exit from Criminal Minds<\/em> got here as a surprise to some \u2014 but could he return in the long run?<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and [showrunner] Erica Messer<\/strong>, we had this concept of a derivative,\u201d Gilford, 44, teased exclusively to Us<\/em>. \u201cI’d like to do a derivative. The hard thing unfortunately is it\u2019s a joint studio. It\u2019s Disney and Paramount. It\u2019s type of hard to persuade them to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gilford wouldn\u2019t mind reprising the complex role of serial killer Elias Voit, who went from committing disturbing crimes to helping out the FBI\u2019s Behavioral Evaluation Unit.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just convincing them to make it because nobody\u2019s going to offer the rights to another person and so they don\u2019t wish to own it together,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo unfortunately, I doubt it’ll ever occur, but there are dreams of it. \u2026 Let\u2019s start a web based movement or whatever we do nowadays.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCriminal Minds is back with a revival on Paramount+\u00a0\u2014 but fans have watched the forged change on and off screen because the procedural first debuted. In 2005, viewers were introduced to a gaggle of criminal profilers who work for the FBI as members of its Behavioral Evaluation Unit. The crime drama, which was created by [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After playing Voit for 4 seasons since 2022, Gilford wasn\u2019t able to say goodbye.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are able to each hope [my character Voit will return] but all I do know is I\u2019m not there filming without delay,\u201d he said of his potential return for season 20 of Criminal Minds: Evolution. \u201cIt was hard to say goodbye. It definitely was one in every of my favorite characters I\u2019ve ever gotten to play and partially because what a present.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cEvery season I got to do a special side of this character. It wasn\u2019t like I used to be just doing the identical thing yearly.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Gilford, Criminal Minds<\/em> was the proper challenge, adding, \u201cTo offer this guy some redemption and exit on a superb guy note \u2014 so to talk \u2014 was nice. It\u2019s weird. You wrap a show and plenty of times you\u2019re like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m coming back next yr and if we\u2019re going to have one other season on the whole.\u2019 On this, I did know that it was the tip.\u201d<\/p>\n
