Jon Jones believes he would\u2019ve quickly submitted Alex Pereira had they fought at heavyweight<\/h2>\n

When reflecting on UFC Freedom 250, Jon Jones said that Alex Pereira got here in too heavy for his interim title fight.<\/p>\n

In a podcast posted by ALF Global<\/a> that appears to have been recorded before the event took place, \u2018Bones\u2019 was asked how he believes he would have matched up with the Brazilian striker. <\/p>\n

Jones believes that the gap in skill level between them within the grappling department, combined with him being higher suited to heavyweight, would have been an excessive amount of for \u2018Poatan\u2019 to beat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve watched Pereira train,\u201d he said. \u201cI see his level of wrestling and it\u2019s way behind\u2026 I feel as if my physical strength would\u2019ve been an excessive amount of for him and I felt as if the moment I might\u2019ve gotten him to the bottom, my submissions would\u2019ve come pretty quickly. I mean, everyone knows that I feel that\u2019s the clearest path to victory for me against a man like Pereira.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite Pereira transitioning to MMA at a late stage in his profession as a decorated kickboxer, he\u2019s only been submitted once.<\/p>\n

His pro debut saw Quemuel Ottoni beat him via rear-naked choke within the third round at Jungle Fight 82 in 2015.<\/p>\n

On the time, Pereira was still actively competing in kickboxing and hadn\u2019t yet put together the remarkable run that will make him a legend in the game.<\/p>\n

\u2018Poatan\u2019 turned a major corner in his MMA profession in his final win before making his UFC debut, where he stopped Thomas Powell in the primary round at LFA 95 following a four-year break from the cage.<\/p>\n

Earlier this yr, Alex Pereira said he was still confident he could fight Jon Jones in the longer term despite them not being matched up for the White House card.<\/p>\n
