The US has carried out one other \u2018heavy wave of strikes\u2019 on Iran in response to attacks on its bases within the Middle East.<\/strong><\/p>\n

US Central Command (Centcom) said the \u2018powerful\u2019 two-hour bombing raid hit \u2018dozens\u2019 of military command centres, missile and drone facilities, and surveillance and defence sites.<\/p>\n

The brand new strikes got here hours after President Donald Trump vowed to strike back \u2018very hard\u2019 after it targeted a US base in Jordan.<\/p>\n

Speaking yesterday, he vowed to \u2018beat the f***ing s**t\u2019 out of Iran for firing on American troops days after he halted air strikes.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s official IRNA news agency said three people were killed and two were wounded in a strike on the island of Qeshm, which lies just off the Iranian mainland within the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

The newest barrage got here after the U.S. partnered with Saudi Arabia to strike Iran-backed militias in neighboring Iraq, killing no less than 20 fighters and 6 Iranian advisers on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The flare-ups on multiple fronts after several days of relative calm raised the danger of a return to all-out war. <\/p>\n

It also underscored the issue of winding down a five-month conflict that has jolted the world economy and is unpopular amongst Americans. <\/p>\n

The fighting was more likely to add to concerns that the US is further drawing down already diminished stockpiles of sophisticated munitions needed to defend its bases and allies.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Wednesday, US and Saudi forces launched strikes against Iran-aligned groups in eastern Iraq, in retaliation for drone attacks on Saudi oil targets launched from Iraq. <\/p>\n

The joint attack marked the primary time Riyadh has publicly joined strikes alongside Washington.<\/p>\n

In Egypt, a drone hit a US-owned gas storage tanker at Egypt\u2019s Mediterranean port of Damietta, British maritime security firm Ambrey said in an initial assessment on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

An announcement from Egypt\u2019s Petroleum Ministry confirmed a fireplace on the port but made no mention of a drone attack. It was not immediately clear who was responsible.<\/p>\n

Egypt, an in depth US ally and regional mediator, is one among the one countries within the Middle East to have been spared direct military motion in the course of the war. <\/p>\n

A strike by Iran or its allies, if confirmed, would mark a big widening of the conflict.<\/p>\n

Asked during an Oval Office event if Iran was chargeable for the strikes on the natural gas vessels, Trump responded: \u2018It\u2019s just a little more of the identical.\u2019<\/p>\n

He added: \u2018Within the meantime, we\u2019re going to be hitting them very hard since it\u2019s our turn to hit them.\u2019<\/p>\n

Oil prices shot up on Wednesday in one among the sharpest spikes of the five-month war. <\/p>\n

Brent crude futures rose greater than 8% to push the benchmark well above $90 a barrel, reversing much of a plunge earlier this week when Trump had unexpectedly halted U.S. strikes. <\/p>\n

On Thursday prices retreated barely.<\/p>\n
