A Russian cruise missile left a crater 33 feet wide in Nato territory when it landed in Poland overnight, Ukraine\u2019s foreign minister has said.<\/p>\n

The landing site was discovered by Polish authorities alongside scattered debris after reports of an explosion near the south-east village of Tarnawa-Kolonia.<\/p>\n

Fighter jets were scrambled, but Poland\u2019s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said there was no immediate danger because the missile fell in an uninhabited area.<\/p>\n

Local authorities said the farmland where the crater was found is around 1.2 miles from the closest residential buildings.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on X: \u2018Overnight, a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile crossed into Poland as a part of Russia\u2019s massive strike against Ukraine, violating NATO airspace.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tusk said the article \u2018looks like\u2019 a Russian missile but authorities didn’t have \u2018100% certainty\u2019 what form of missile it was.<\/p>\n

In a post on X, he said: \u2018The military, Police, State Fire Service, and special services are working in full coordination. <\/p>\n

\u2018We’re in constant contact with the President of the Republic of Poland and NATO command.\u2019<\/p>\n

His defence minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said an investigation is currently underway to find out the kind of object that landed near the village.<\/p>\n

Sirens were heard in Lublin, Poland\u2019s eighth-largest city, for several minutes to warn of potential Russian strikes.<\/p>\n

The operational command of Poland\u2019s armed forces said in a post on X that the article was detected moving westward before disappearing from radars soon after the sighting at 3.40am local time.<\/p>\n

It continued: \u2018A helicopter crew situated the probable crash site of the article in an undeveloped area near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia within the Lublin province.\u2019<\/p>\n

The most recent development got here after eight people, including a six-year-old girl and boys aged 11 and 17, were killed in a Russian attack on Ukraine last night, in response to local officials.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who met the UK\u2019s recent Prime Minister Andy Burnham on Monday, said greater than 70 missiles were utilized in the attack in addition to greater than 280 attack drones.<\/p>\n

In a post on X, he criticised Ukraine\u2019s \u2018partners\u2019 for \u2018premature assistance and delays within the delivery of anti-ballistic missiles\u2019 which led to a \u2018critical shortage\u2019.<\/p>\n
