Following a string of acclaimed performances in recent times, Greta Lee<\/strong> is about to return to the massive screen with \u201cLate Fame.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking concerning the project in a recent interview, Lee described \u201cLate Fame\u201d as \u201ca precious secret gem.\u201d She also reflected on how she approached the role after replacing the film\u2019s previously attached star, Sandra H\u00fcller. <\/p>\n Lee\u2019s film, \u201cLate Fame,\u201d had its world premiere within the Orizzonti section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in August 2025.<\/p>\n \t\t<\/p>\n Now, nearly a 12 months later, the movie is about to open in select U.S. theaters through Magnolia Pictures.<\/p>\n Reflecting on the film\u2019s journey ahead of its theatrical release, Lee told The Hollywood Reporter <\/a>that she is \u201cjust so appreciative\u201d the movie was made in the primary place.<\/p>\n \u201cIt does feel like this precious secret gem,\u201d the \u201cRussian Doll\u201d star said of the project. \u201cDefinitely that feels reflected within the type of distribution and release it\u2019s going to have. I\u2019m just hoping that it might find an audience. It\u2019s certainly one of those movies that I feel like is that this gift that I would like people to receive and to get to see it in a theater.\u201d<\/p>\n In \u201cLate Fame,\u201d Lee plays Gloria, an actress determined to win the eye of former poet Ed Saxberger (Willem Dafoe) after discovering his little-known collection of poetry while looking for acting opportunities.<\/p>\n Nonetheless, Lee almost never landed the role. She stepped into the part after Sandra H\u00fcller, who had originally been solid, withdrew from the project.<\/p>\n Looking back, Lee said she is grateful the chance got here her way because she believes the role was meant for her.<\/p>\n \u201cThe concept of Gloria and who she was in my mind was so firm and so separate from anyone else, including Sandra,\u201d she said. \u201cIt felt prefer it was mine \u2014 like, \u2018I really need to make the leap and run with this concept of exactly who this person is.’\u201d<\/p>\n Lee\u2019s enthusiasm for the role was also evident during a Q&A following the film\u2019s screening on the Venice International Film Festival.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was certainly one of those moments when I believed, \u2018Oh, God, I actually have to play her.\u2019 Then, once I was lucky enough to get the prospect to, I couldn\u2019t imagine it,\u201d Lee said on the time, per Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n Based on Lee, the type of woman Gloria represents is never seen today, which is why she had extensive conversations with director Kent Jones to make sure every detail of the character felt authentic.<\/p>\n \u201cThe type of woman who’s incredibly nostalgic and romantic and searching to the past, trying to women like Marlene Dietrich,\u201d Lee noted. \u201cThose were just a few of the things we tried to include into the character.\u201d<\/p>\nGreta Lee Felt Gloria Was At all times Her Character<\/h2>\n
