\u201cSinners\u201d and \u201cBlack Panther\u201d director Ryan Coogler<\/strong> has produced a pilot episode for a planned Hulu reboot series for \u201cThe X-Files.\u201d Now, following production on the episode, one in all the show\u2019s original stars, Gillian Anderson<\/strong>, is sharing her thoughts on the direction of the show and remaining mute on whether she’s going to appear. <\/p>\n

Anderson sat down for an Entertainment Tonight<\/a> interview along with her \u201cTeenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma\u201d costar,\u00a0Hannah Einbinder<\/strong>, who asked her various questions. Throughout the discussion, the subject of Coogler\u2019s planned reboot of \u201cX-Files\u201d got here up, with the \u201cHacks\u201d alum asking Anderson for her thoughts and if she may appear.<\/p>\n

First, the 57-year-old played coy, joking, \u201cHe’s?\u201d Anderson then said, \u201cI can\u2019t answer the last query, however the query before that, I cannot consider a greater person to take the helm.\u201d After that, the beloved actress stated that she \u201ccannot wait to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI feel that he\u2019s extraordinary and I read the script that he wrote, and it\u2019s good.\u201d Anderson continued, \u201cI used to be impressed by how different and yet how quintessentially like an X-File it was. <\/p>\n

Gillian Spoke About The Reboot After It Was First Announced <\/h2>\n

Coogler has been involved in a planned \u201cX-Files\u201d reboot since 2023. After the success of \u201cSinners\u201d in 2025, it was confirmed that this is able to be his next project. Then, in February 2026, Hulu ordered a pilot for the series to find out whether or not they can be all in favour of commissioning a full season.<\/p>\n

In May 2025, while appearing on ITV1\u2019s \u201cThis Morning,\u201d<\/a> she reacted to the plans to once more bring the enduring series back. Anderson said, \u201cI spoke to [Coogler], and what I said was, \u2018If anyone were to do it,\u00a0I feel you\u00a0are the proper person, and better of luck.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, joking, \u201cCall me,\u201d before adding, \u201cIn some unspecified time in the future, if the phone rings and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0good and it appears like the correct time, perhaps.\u201d Anderson then said of her potential involvement, \u201cWhether I’m involved in it’s a complete other thing;\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not saying no.\u201d <\/p>\n

In discussing the Oscar-winning director, Anderson stated, \u201cI feel [Coogler is] really\u00a0cool\u00a0and I feel if he did it, it could\u00a0probably be\u00a0done incredibly well. And\u00a0possibly I\u2019ll\u00a0pop in for just a little something\u00a0something.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The \u2018X-Files\u2019 Alum Credits The Role For Her Profession<\/h2>\n

\u201cX-Files,\u201d which Anderson co-starred on with David Duchovny<\/strong>, premiered on Fox in 1993 before ending its original run in 2002. Several years later, the show was revived, running from 2016 until 2018. Throughout the revival, Anderson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the consideration, she spoke to Variety<\/a>, reflecting on the show\u2019s legacy and the way it helped launch her profession as an actress. While reflecting on her early years on the show, she said, \u201cI used to be so green firstly, and so young, and I used to be just exploring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anderson continued, \u201cI showed up and hit my mark and learned my lines and was pulled into this vortex of this hit show. It was my first skilled, proper gig, and it was a cannon of sorts.\u201d <\/p>\n

Regarding her iconic character, Scully, she shared, \u201cThe character that Chris Carter created, one\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0see her often on television at the moment. So\u00a0to be an element of that was incredibly empowering for me and extraordinary to be an element of each a personality and a series that was so iconic and\u00a0game-changing.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Solid Was Announced In Early 2026<\/h2>\n

Award-winning actress Danielle Deadwyler<\/strong> was solid as one in all the co-leads in Coogler\u2019s \u201cX-Files\u201d reboot in February 2026. After that, in March, in keeping with Deadline<\/a>, Himesh Patel<\/strong> was also solid as one in all the leads.<\/p>\n

The series comes from Onyx Collective and twentieth Television, and Jennifer Yale <\/strong>will function showrunner. Deadwyler and Patel will play brand-new characters within the rebooted series if Hulu orders more episodes beyond the pilot. Yale will even executive produce, as will original \u201cX-Files\u201d creator Chris Carter<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

While promoting \u201cSinners\u201d in 2025, Coogler appeared on \u201cThe Last Podcast on the Left,\u201d<\/a> sharing that he\u2019d grown up as a fan of \u201cThe X-Files.\u201d He said in regards to the ongoing process behind the show, \u201cI\u2019ve\u00a0been enthusiastic about that for an extended\u00a0time,\u00a0and\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0fired as much as get back to it.\u201d <\/p>\n

He then said, \u201cA few of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, can be really f-cking scary.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
