The San Jose Sharks are near re-signing Collin Graf, and talks with Will Smith proceed<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Curtis Pashelka<\/a><\/strong>: San Jose Sharks GM Mike Greir on Will Smith<\/a>, who eligible to sign a contract extension this offseason, and Collin Graf<\/a>f who’s a RFA.<\/p>\n

\u201cContinuing to have dialogue with (Smith and Collin Graf) and see where that goes. Smitty is certainly someone we\u2019d prefer to lock up long-term as well. So we\u2019ll see the way it goes. But definitely, it\u2019s a part of the plan to hopefully get them locked up long-term. But when it doesn\u2019t occur (with Smith), then we\u2019ll be okay, and we\u2019ll work out because the season goes on and into next summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Max Miller<\/strong><\/a>: Sharks GM Grier said that they’re \u201cpretty close\u201d to getting Graf\u2019s contract finalized.<\/p>\n

Will Drake Batherson determine to check the open market next July 1st as the edges \u201caren\u2019t close?\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen<\/a><\/strong>: Ottawa Senators forward Drake Batherson<\/a> is entering the ultimate yr of his deal that carries a $4.65 million salary cap hit. Some league executives consider he could get between $10 and $11 million on the open market.<\/p>\n

The Senators and Batherson\u2019s camp have held some talks, and sources say they consider that the edges \u201caren\u2019t close.\u201d Batherson desires to stay, they usually need to keep him, nevertheless it won\u2019t be easy to get a deal done.<\/p>\n
