When India’s first Twenty20 International match against England took place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, January 22, seamer Arshdeep Singh playfully apologized to wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for breaking his record. Arshdeep took his second wicket of the sport, bowling Ben Duckett for 4 runs, surpassing Chahal to change into India’s top wicket-taker in T20Is.
“It feels great, I’m grateful that my hardwork has paid off and I’ll attempt to proceed taking wickets for the country,” said Arshdeep in a video released by the BCCI.
“Varun is bowling exceptionally nowadays, because it’s extremely crucial to take wickets in the center overs in T20Is.
