Rohit was accompanied by teammates Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill because the Indian team prepares for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, starting Thursday, February 6, in Nagpur.

Rohit’s latest international appearance got here within the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), where he had a difficult series, scoring just 31 runs in five innings. Gautam Gambhir Backs Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Amid Form Concerns Ahead of ENG ODI Series
India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir voiced his backing for the experienced pair of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they navigate through a tricky phase. Speaking on the BCCI Naman Awards 2025 on Saturday, February 1, Gambhir highlighted that each players are highly motivated to return to peak form. He remarked:
“I believe each Rohit and Virat, they add a lot value to the dressing room. They add a lot value to Indian cricket as well. They’ve got to play a large role (within the Champions Trophy). And I’ve said it before as well: those guys are so hungry, they need to play for the country. They’ve the fervour to play for the country and deliver for the country.”
After the ODI series against England, India will shift their focus to the 2025 Champions Trophy, starting February 19, where they’re in Group A with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Recent Zealand.
