The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to get underway on the nineteenth of February after a seven-year hiatus as hosts Pakistan open the tournament with their game against Recent Zealand at Karachi on Wednesday.
Defending champions Pakistan, who were originally speculated to host the tournament on home soil throughout, needed to be content with a hybrid format by which they share the hosting rights with the United Arab Emirates after BCCI refused to send Team India across the border to the neighbouring territory citing security reasons.
Eight teams, split into two groups of 4 sides each, will compete for the coveted piece of silverware. Each team will play three group stage games each, with the highest two teams at the top of the league stage progressing to the following knockout rounds of the marquee ICC event.
Group A:
Pakistan, India, Recent Zealand, Bangladesh
Group B:
South Africa, Australia, England, Afghanistan
The eight competing teams made their option to the ICC CT 2025 by ending as the highest 8 sides on the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023, as an alternative of the standard approach to the top-ranked eight teams being granted entry to the event.
Team India will play all their group stage games on the Dubai International Stadium, including the headline game against Pakistan slated to be held on the twenty third of February. The lads in blue will get their bid for the title underway against Bangladesh on the twentieth of February and can round out their group assignments with their encounter against Recent Zealand on the 2nd of March.

The prize money on offer has spiked up by greater than 50 per cent from the last edition of the tournament in 2008 and the winner of the tournament stands to realize $2.24 million while the runners-up can be richer by half that at $1.12 million. The losing semifinalists will take home $560,000 each.
