In a recent interview with InStyle, Johansson admitted she was caught off guard by a joke Jost made about her on “SNL.”

“I simply cannot imagine they went there,” Johansson said, laughing. “It was like, old-school gross.”

Through the joke swap segment, Jost and his “Weekend Update” co-host, Michael Che, read out jokes written by one another.

This time, Jost found himself delivering a very risqué line. He said, “Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu. But I ain’t trippin’. I have been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the child.”

Because the joke landed, cameras cut to Johansson backstage and her stunned expression, making it clear she wasn’t expecting that level of crudeness.

Johansson noted that despite the heads up, she didn’t expect to be the punchline of the night.

“I used to be like, ‘I mean, it is a vagina joke, how bad could it’s?’ After which as soon because the Costco photo got here up, I used to be like, ‘No! No, Michael!” the actress recalled.

Johansson, who married Jost in 2020, also reflected on the production team’s perfectly timed response shot of her stunned expression.

“The incontrovertible fact that it took on a full ‘To Catch a Predator’-style reveal or whatever,” she joked, “that was so intense. Rapidly, it was like an entire bunch of individuals holding up lights and a man with a video camera. They were waiting for me to react. I felt insane. I used to be like, ‘I feel I will faint.'”
