Christian Eriksen has not made a choice on where he’ll play next season but has ruled out some possible destinations after leaving Manchester United.
The 33-year-old moved to Old Trafford in the summertime of 2022, signing a three-year contract after a six-month stint with Brentford which was his return to skilled football after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark in 2021.
The midfielder has made 99 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring seven goals, and winning the FA Cup under Erik ten Hag last season.
Nevertheless, his initial contract with the club is just not going to be prolonged and he is about to make a move in the summertime.
The 140-cap Denmark international only turned 33 last month and has no thoughts or retirement yet, although he has not made any firm alternative of where he’ll play next.

‘I haven’t considered it an excessive amount of. Like last time, my contract expires in the summertime, so I’m prepared to seek out something latest. I’m positive with that—it’s not something I’ve decided yet,’ he told Tipsbladet.dk.
‘I haven’t made any firm decisions. Before my cardiac arrest, I played in England for years, moved to Inter, and thought I’d never return. Two years later, I used to be back in England, and now I’ve been here for nearly 4 years.

‘Careers don’t at all times follow a set plan. I don’t have a checklist of things I want to do—I’ll see what comes and what’s best for me and my family.
While he is just not sure what he’ll do, he knows a few things he is not going to do, including returning to play within the Danish Superliga.
‘Not yet. It’s too early. I still feel like I actually have good years left abroad,’ he said. ‘In Denmark, players often return to deal with family and end their careers that way, but I don’t feel like I’m there yet.’
Eriksen also ruled out a move to Major League Soccer in America, saying: ‘We won’t travel that far.’
Remaining within the Premier League can also be unlikely as when asked if he could return to Brentford he said: ‘Haha, in order that’s my only option? Whether it’s Brentford or not, I can’t say. But my intention isn’t to remain in England.
‘This case is different from once I was a free agent after my cardiac arrest. Back then, it was about proving I could still play. Now, it’s nearly waiting for the proper opportunity and never making hasty decisions. If something feels right, I’ll take it.’

Red Devils legend Peter Schmeichel believes a return to Ajax could be ideal for Eriksen, having joined the Dutch club in 2008 and making his skilled debut there.
‘That [move to Ajax] could be an excellent step for him,’ Schmeichel told Voetbal Primeur when asked about Eriksen’s future.
‘In fact, as we all know, he’s a midfielder. Nowadays within the Premier League you would like players who can sprint up and down for 90 minutes.
‘The best way Ruben Amorim desires to play also doesn’t suit him, he desires to win the ball back quickly. At a really high pace. That’s not in his nature. Unfortunately, Eriksen now not has that energy.
‘He’s an excellent player. A few of the things he does on the sphere… He’s still so good on the ball and technically. I believe Ajax could be a unbelievable move for him.’
