Talking about working with Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman said, “I believe he really meant what he said. Like, beyond what recent are you able to do?” Kamal Haasan said, “You will need to at all times do beyond yourself. And you might be doing this now.”
Talking about working with Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman said, “I don’t know what to say. I believe Kamal sir, his movie, he’s done every part, and he’s looking and telling what are you going to do. Like that, every scene which I’m scoring, I feel like from the screen he’s me, what are you going to do? And Mani sir and Kamal ji have created Nayakan, which is form of probably the most iconic movie, reinventing cinema in a way with Mr. Illayaraja, they usually’ve done amazing work. And this movie will not be Nayakan, it’s different from Nayakan, and so I didn’t have that weight on me. It’s got a really forward-thinking, more of a today’s sound, but still has that magic of what they did together, I believe in portions.”
He added, “So I’m really honoured and I’m very excited. I’m still scoring for the past 4 months, day-after-day I’ll be doing something, sending it to Mani sir and saying is it good or not. And Trisha, Abhirami, Simbu, and the entire team Ravi, Rajayant, HMV, Sarika maa everybody, good luck, thanks.

About Thug Life
Thug Life is an upcoming Tamil-language gangster motion drama. It has been directed by Mani Ratnam in collaboration with Kamal Haasan to co-write the screenplay. The film is a joint production enterprise between Raaj Kamal Movies International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies. It stars a stellar solid including Haasan, Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan and Ashok Selvan. Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and Vaiyapuri may even be seen. This project marks the reunion of Haasan and Ratnam after their iconic film Nayakan (1987). Thug Life is ready to release worldwide in theatres on June 5, 2025.
