Tom Aspinall scores his first victory over Jon Jones as UFC fight talks could’ve reached culmination

Tom Aspinall has scored a pre-fight win over Jon Jones as their UFC heavyweight title unification fight could finally be agreed.

Ever since Jon Jones’ title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, fans have called for him to fight Tom Aspinall in a title unification fight.

Nonetheless, the consensus biggest fighter of all time has seemingly continued to delay the potential fight, claiming he would wish six months to arrange for it, leading to fans calling him a ‘duck’.

Despite that, UFC boss Dana White has continued to reassure the fanbase that the fight will occur, occasionally providing positive updates regarding negotiations.

Tom Aspinall scores small victory over Jon Jones

Earlier this week, Aspinall offered some reassurance of his own, stating that he now knows what’s happening and teased that fight news might be imminent.

Not long after, it was claimed by UFC legend Chael Sonnen that the fight between Jones and Aspinall is officially on and has even been given a date.

Despite not having been given a date up until this point, the Brit has remained in somewhat of a fight camp, attempting to remain ready for his or her potential clash.

Along along with his gruelling sessions, Aspinall has been participating in some challenges on his YouTube channel, one among which was a grip strength test.

Grip strength tests have turn out to be quite popular amongst UFC fighters, and ahead of UFC 314 recently, a few of the stars of the cardboard took part in a single pre-fight.

Not only that but ahead of his UFC 309 fight, Jones also took part in a grip strength test and shocked fans along with his rating of 132.8lbs.

Scoring his first victory over Jones, Aspinall ever so barely one upped him after registering a rating of 140.8lbs.

It didn’t end there, though, because the 32-year-old went on to completely bend a metal frying pan in half, showcasing his sheer grip strength.

Jon Jones recently took a dig at Tom Aspinall

Jones has been extremely quiet on social media recently, which is a change from his usual antics online.

A part of the rationale for that might be due to indisputable fact that he recently took on an enormous project, becoming the co-owner of Dirty Boxing Championships, establishing life outside of fighting.

Nonetheless, he did recently seemingly send a shot online at Aspinall after posting a cryptic tweet on X. From the start of Jones and Aspinall’s feud, ‘Bones’ has claimed that the explosive Brit is nothing latest that he hasn’t already seen, playing down his skillset.

Fortunately, though, fans might be just months away from finally seeing the super fight happen, as Aspinall looks to take the batton from Jones who’s nearing his retirement.
