Although John Cena made history this past Sunday at WrestleMania 41 when he defeated Cody Rhodes to develop into a 17-time World Champion, the response from wrestling fans and media alike has been mixed towards the fundamental event, with many voicing their concern over match quality, the involvement of American rapper Travis Scott, and The Rock failing to seem. Following the show, WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff didn’t hold back from sharing his frustration with the match, explaining on “83 Weeks” that he wasn’t emotionally invested.
“Was it an excellent story? No. Was it somewhere perhaps in the center? Yeah. It was decent but it surely lacked emotion and I felt that way from the very starting of this arc and I felt that all over the match … I do not know what to chalk it as much as apart from perhaps a distinct version of ring rust for John … It just didn’t connect and I do not know why.”
Bischoff then compared the fundamental event match to Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria’s victory over Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s Tag Team Championships on the identical night, and claimed that Rhodes and Cena will likely notice the issues of their performance upon watching it back.
“I saw this in a women’s tag match too, it was overproduced with Becky … there was an excessive amount of occurring and none of it really mattered.” Bischoff said. “I hate that I actually have to say it, I believe the world of Cody and John but I actually have to consider when each those guys watch this match back they’ll go, ‘We missed it. We missed the mark.'”
