“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams began dating Patrice “Sway” McKinney in 2025. Since then, the “RHOA” fan-favorite has spoken openly about their relationship, and McKinney has also been featured on the hit Bravo show. Now, Williams is opening up about how she defines her sexual orientation.
Porsha Williams Isn’t Labeling Her Sexuality
Williams appeared on “The Breakfast Club” on April 14 to advertise “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Through the conversation, Charlamagne tha God asked her if she cares about labels amid going public together with her girlfriend.
She responded by saying that when she first announced that she was dating a person and a lady, everyone questioned, “Are you a lesbian, are you bisexual and I used to be identical to ‘I don’t have a label. I’m just Porsha-Sexual. I’m just exploring. Now I’m Sway-Sexual.”
From there, Williams went on to say that she’s “very free and exploring parts of myself.” Nonetheless, she also proclaimed, “At this moment, I don’t mind if you wish to call me a lesbian. I don’t mind if, you already know, bisexual is a phrase, but I don’t know what comes with that. I’m sort of latest with all that.”
She added, “But I’m not offended by it in any respect,” and that she “doesn’t feel pressure to label myself.”
The ‘RHOA’ Star Says She’s Taking Her Time With McKinney
Later within the clip from the complete “Breakfast Club” interview, cohost Lauren Larosa asked Williams how dating a lady differed from dating a person. After giving the query some thought, the “RHOA” legend said, “What I find with Sway is that I feel very comforted. I feel very seen, very patient.”
After that, she stated that they convey thoroughly with one another before noting, “Now that may be because we’re going very slow.” Williams then compared this to her past relationships, noting that after three months, she would typically expect to have a hoop, citing her “three-month rule.”
The 44-year-old continued, “On this case, I’m definitely taking my time together with her, and it’s just very soft. And naturally, I actually have all the time been drawn to women, so I get each of those. I get the female side of her, and I benefit from the masculine side of her.”
When asked in the event that they are considering marriage, Williams reiterated, “Very slow.” Still, she admitted she’s sometimes tempted to hurry things together with Sway due to “feeling this type of love,” before saying she’s taking it “at a healthier pace.”

Following Williams ‘ response to the wedding query, Charlamagne tha God asked, “How do you already know this ain’t a phase, though? Your food plan may change.” She said, “Well, my food plan modified on men too, after which I divorced them after they weren’t good for me as well.”
In defense of her relationship with McKinney, she said, “Your food plan could change with anything, and her’s could change from me too. You never know the long run. It’s so funny. People be under my posts like, ‘We’ll see how long this lasts,’ we’ll see how long anybody’s relationships last.”
Williams added, “I don’t know why it looks as if I’m the primary person to be gay now. I’m not the primary. It’s 2026.”

Fans who’re tuned in to season 17 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” know that she introduced a person within the premiere episode before bringing McKinney to an event within the second. Previously, PEOPLE reported that Williams opened up about dating two people at CultureCon in October 2025.
She said while on a panel that she was “talking to” two people before stating, “And he is good and she or he is good.” Williams then discussed her conversations together with her therapist. Notably, this got here on the heels of her divorce from Simon Guobadia.
Based on her, “What I talked about with my therapist the opposite day was, I’m having a tough time opening up because they’re not narcissists. And guess what narcissists do? They love bomb you, they do every little thing, they appear perfect, they mirror you. And these people are usually not.”
Porsha Denied Claims She Hired Her Date For The ‘RHOA’ Premiere
The “RHOA” season 17 premiere mostly centered around a banquet Williams hosted at her home. Because it was intended to be a pair’s night, she brought her date, Michael “Mike” Anthony. Following the episode, The Bravo Shaderoom shared a video of him claiming he was hired to be on the show as Williams’ love interest.
