MANILA, Philippines—Converge stunned streaking TNT, 97-92, to bolster its playoff probabilities within the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday night at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The FiberXers improved to 3-6 and stopped the Tropang 5g’s three-game winning run.
“If we gave up, we’d be nowhere. Our solution was to fight and consider we are able to win this game. You all saw how much the youngsters played too,” coach Delta Pineda said.

“I told them to remain focused, especially in that third quarter. Prior to now few games, that’s where we crumble so I told them to focus and consider we are able to win against this team.”
Converge was up comfortably within the fourth, 93-82, before TNT went on an 8-1 spurt to chop the deficit to 4 with 1:05 remaining. Justin Arana sealed the FiberXers’ victory with a brief stab, 96-90, with 20.9 ticks to go.
Arana finished with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Juan Gomez de Liaño had an all-around game of 16 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Mikey Williams had 13 points and three assists in his first game against TNT following a bitter split between the 2 parties on account of a lengthy contract dispute. Converge officially acquired the rights to Williams in exchange for Jordan Heading last June. Alec Stockton also scored 13 for the FiberXers.
TNT dropped to fifth within the standings with a 5-3 record despite Bol Bol’s 32 points and 16 rebounds.
