IPL 2026: Piyush Chawla suggests one key change for RR ahead of PBKS match

Rajasthan Royals

Former India spinner Piyush Chawla wants Rajasthan Royals (RR) so as to add experienced pacer Sandeep Sharma ahead of Tushar Deshpande for the IPL 2026 match against the unbeaten Punjab Kings (PBKS). Chawla also supported Brijesh Sharma to retain his place within the team ahead of Deshpande as well.

Nonetheless, RR will play against PBKS at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 28. RR have 10 points from 8 matches to date, while PBKS have 13 points from 7 matches.

During a discussion on ESPNcricinfo Timeout, Chawla said: “Sandeep Sharma [should be] back in obviously as a substitute of Brijesh or Tushar. Rest all the things is okay because they’ve been doing well overall. In the event you see their bowling, it has done a good job for them and middle order, I don’t think so you wish any changes. You’ve got to stick with the identical batting order. Their openers are doing a very good job for them, so only one change. I would love to see Sandeep Sharma coming in instead of perhaps Tushar because Brijesh has done well for a first-season bowler.”

“I expect Jofra Archer to be a difference maker within the powerplay” – Ian Bishop

In the course of the same discussion, former West Indies player Ian Bishop also backed Jofra Archer to be the important thing man for RR with the ball within the powerplay as well.

Bishop said: “I expect Jofra Archer to be a difference maker within the powerplay, if he’s as motivated and in nearly as good a rhythm as we saw him against Sunrisers. He was identical to to date above everyone else. If that doesn’t work, you then’re gonna must get more out of a Ravi Bishnoi or a Jadeja. The opposite guys must fill in because I assumed that was the disappointing thing last match. The opposite guys didn’t step up in the way in which they need to have.”
