Liverpool are in talks to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton ahead of Manchester United, based on reports.
Palace are reportedly demanding an £80 million fee for the 22-year-old, who was signed for an initial £18m from Blackburn Rovers two years ago.
The England international is just not in need of options with Manchester United and Chelsea each keen on a deal in the summertime transfer window.
Nonetheless, Marca reports that Liverpool have stepped up their interest and are currently in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Wharton from Palace.
The report adds that Liverpool are also in discussions to sign Marcos Senesi, whose contract with Bournemouth expires at the top of the season.

Tottenham have also made an approach to sign the Argentine centre-back on a free transfer at the top of the season.
Asked about his future at Palace this week, Wharton said: ‘Obviously the praise is nice and being linked with big clubs it’s obviously a compliment in a way.”
‘As much praise as you get, there’s also the opposite side of it where other people don’t think you might be doing thoroughly or other clubs don’t want you because they don’t like this thing about you.
‘I don’t really listen to it. I do know that I’m doing well. The coach will tell me. To them, they’re those who can have the largest impact on me and help me develop my profession. The surface ones, I don’t really concentrate on it. I just attempt to concentrate on myself.’
