Ian Machado Garry watched on as Jack Della Maddalena failed to duplicate his feat in Saturday’s UFC Perth major event.

A person with whom the Irishman may be very familiar had his hand raised, as Carlos Prates brutally stopped Della Maddalena within the Australian’s own backyard.

The Brazilian made it three wins in a row on the RAC Arena to stake his claim for a primary shot at Islam Makhachev’s welterweight title.

Unfortunately for Prates, his one defeat contained in the Octagon 13 months ago could have put him second within the pecking order.

Ian Machado Garry gives a harsh assessment of Jack Della Maddalena’s UFC Perth performance

Garry defeated Prates within the UFC, handing the Brazilian his one and only loss contained in the Octagon within the Kansas City major event.

It’s secure to say that the Irishman was rooting for his former rival to maintain up his winning ways since that setback in April 2025.

“I hope Carlos Prates punches JDM’s lights out,” Garry wrote on X.

“Jack is DONE. He doesn’t wanna be there. Carlos give me the massive KO,” he added in one other post.

He just about had that wish granted, as Prates pieced up the house favorite with devastating punches and knees en path to the TKO stoppage in round three.

Garry subsequently gave a powerful assessment of Della Maddalena’s display within the UFC Perth major event after a successful ‘hate watch’ of his welterweight rival.

“Jack had nothing. Nothing.”

Garry is predicted to be next in line for a title shot at 170 kilos, having followed up his win against Prates with a victory over Belal Muhammad last November.

There has yet to be confirmation of that from the UFC, nevertheless, and Garry has repeatedly berated Makhachev for supposedly delaying their fight, which is now rumored for UFC 330 in August.
