The Carolina Hurricanes proceed to roll within the Stanley Cup Playoffs, having improved to an ideal 5-0 with Saturday’s 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Logan Stankoven continued his Conn Smythe Trophy-worthy performance for the Hurricanes, scoring two more goals as a part of the win and upping his total to 6, tied for probably the most amongst current playoff goal scorers. The Hurricanes also got a goal from Jackson Blake, together with a shutout performance from goaltender Frederik Andersen.
Following the sport, Blake gave a special shoutout to the performances of Stankoven and fellow linemate Taylor Hall, which has been certainly one of the most important aspects behind Carolina’s success thus far within the postseason.
“Of course, I mean, Stanks has been unbelievable this postseason,” Blake said via NHL Media on X. “I mean, He’s been unbelievable all yr, but especially this postseason. He’s been probably the most popular guy in hockey immediately. But our line too, Hallsy (Taylor Hall), making those little plays makes it easier on me, and particularly Stanks and Hallsy, they’re working so hard and being junkyard dogs on the market. Really fun to play with.”
Each Stankoven and Hall are playing of their first full seasons with the Hurricanes after each were acquired last season in separate Mikko Rantanen deals. Hall was acquired in a three-team trade from the Chicago Blackhawks also involving the Colorado Avalanche and Rantanen, while Stankoven was acquired weeks later from the Dallas Stars as a part of a package for Rantanen.
Stankoven soon signed an eight-year, $48 million contract with the Hurricanes, and it’s paying off, especially with how he has played thus far within the postseason.
