After entertaining the masses for many years as an actor, C Joseph Vijay was sworn in as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister on Sunday, May 10. The ceremony was attended by the actor-turned-politicians’ family, friends, colleagues, politicians and tons of of supporters. Also present on the swearing-in ceremony was the producer of Vijay’s last film – Jana Nayagan, K Venkat Narayana.
After the ceremony, Narayana interacted with the media present and got candid in regards to the stalled film’s release date. For the unversed, the film was initially set to release in January on the occasion of Pongal, but as a result of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) issues has been in limbo for the last 4 months. Vijay Thalapathy’s Jana Nayagan To Release In The Next Two Weeks
While interacting with reporters at Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony, Venkat K Narayana, the founding father of KVN Productions, confirmed that the actor’s final film will probably be releasing this month. Stating that the ultimate CBFC certification process for Jana Nayagan is currently underway, NDTV Movies reported the makerssaying, “Final processes are underway, and we’re in discussions with them. We’re very blissful and excited.” They futher added that the film is predicted to be released in roughly 14 days. If this seems to be true, Vijay Thalapathy’s last film will released in theatres globally this month only.
While talking in regards to the actor who has reportedly given up his acting profession for one in politics, Venkat said, “I do know Vijay sir personally. He may be very disciplined and dedicated, and whatever he guarantees, he fulfils. He walks the talk.” Talking in regards to the
The producer further spoke about how the film’s title and themes align with the ‘recent era’ for Tamil Nadu under Vijay’s leadership. He said, “I believe a brand new leadership, a brand new era begins… He has turned out to be Jana Nayagan (a person of the people) for the people of Tamil Nadu.”
Throughout the media interaction, Venkat K Narayana briefly referred to the recent challenges faced by the production and called the past incidents ‘unlucky’.
About The Film
Jana Nayagan – believed to be actor Vijay’s final film before entering politics, was set to release in theatres on January 9. Nonetheless, the film – also starring Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol, has been delayed after CBFC didn’t certify the film in time.
Reports indicated that the film was first screened for the CBFC examining committee in December 2025. The committee reportedly suggested several cuts and indicated that the film could receive a U/A certificate once the changes were made.
