The Gujarat Titans (GT) delivered a masterclass in defensive bowling as they crushed the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 82 runs on the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, May 12.
Wearing special lavender jerseys to spread cancer awareness, the Titans defended 168 runs successfully, crushed Hyderabad’s batting lineup, registered their fifth straight win, and climbed to the highest of the IPL 2026 points table.
After being put in to bat by SRH captain Pat Cummins, Gujarat faced an uphill battle as Praful Hinge (2/17)dismissed each Shubman Gill (5) and Jos Buttler (7) early. Nevertheless, Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a composed 61 off 44 balls, featuring five boundaries and two sixes.
He found an ideal partner in Washington Sundar, who provided the obligatory late acceleration with an unbeaten 50 off 33 balls. Their partnership, together with a fast cameo from Nishant Sindhu (22 off 14), pushed the Titans to a competitive 168/5.

What a consistent come back by GT under the captaincy of Shubham Gill. They won 5 matches now back to back.
Same team, now looks dangerous.
Interesting shifts in points table in 2nd half of IPL now.
Well played Sai Sudharsan.#GTvsSRH pic.twitter.com/hn17nz0HiO— Ronak Hadpawat (@ronakronny711) May 12, 2026

Captain Shubman Gill has been outstanding this season. The best way he’s rotating his bowlers, attacking in phases and staying ahead of the sport has been top class.
Using Siraj upfront and ending Rabada’s full quota inside 8 overs against SRH was a pure captaincy statement.… pic.twitter.com/kwiBJGvdb9

SRH Collapse Early as Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada Rock Top Order
The Sunrisers’ chase was a disaster from the outset. Mohammed Siraj set the tone with a wicket-maiden first over, dismissing Travis Head for a duck. Kagiso Rabada then tore through the highest order in a fiery spell, removing Abhishek Sharma (6), Ishan Kishan (11), and Smaran Ravichandran (9) to depart SRH reeling at 32/4.
Rabada’s clinical performance earned him the Player of the Match award, ending with figures of 3/28. The center order offered no resistance against the relentless GT attack. Jason Holder was exceptional, claiming 3/20, while Prasidh Krishna (2/23) and Rashid Khan (1/3) ensured there was no way back for the visitors.
Hyderabad was eventually bundled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs—their lowest total in IPL history. This comprehensive victory officially marked Gujarat’s largest-ever win by runs and solidified their status because the team to beat this season.
