Kyle Bukauskas: “So we wait in Nashville. What’s going to occur there? Who’s going to be heading up their hockey ops? What the front office goes to appear to be moving forward. It’s been an extended process there. You’ve got mentioned on this podcast prior to now that they appear to be possibly waiting on something. There was a report on the market linking Chris MacFarland, the final manager of the Avalanche, to Nashville. What are you hearing on that front with the Preds and their search?
Buffalo Sabres Free Agents: Alex Tuch, Zach Benson, and Michael Kesselring
Friedman: “So, to start with, I don’t consider there may be an announcement imminent on Monday. Still, we wait. And so when that MacFarland thing got here out, that’s one among the things I’ve been wondering about. If Nashville is waiting to check with him.
And I do consider it’s possible that that’s one among the explanations that the search has taken this long. Nonetheless, I would love to emphasize, I don’t consider there’s any deal or agreement in place or anything near it. I don’t consider it’s a guarantee that he’s going to Nashville or he’s leaving Colorado. However the length of the search definitely makes it appear to be the Predators are waiting to check with someone, and he’s a logical goal.
Now, you’ll do not forget that earlier within the yr, after they began their search, they asked for permission to talk to the GM of the Hurricanes, Eric Tulsky, and so they were rejected. There isn’t a way, similarly, that Colorado would even consider that request with the team still playing. If it was made, and I don’t know that it’s been made, but even when it was made, there’s no way Colorado would say yes to it.
Also, from what I understand, Chris McFarland’s contract isn’t expiring. I don’t know the precise terms, but he’s under contract beyond the season. So it’s not like he could just pack up and leave.
Could There be a Fit for the St. Louis Blue and San Jose Sharks with the No. 2 Pick?
I believe it’s also necessary to know Colorado’s history with MacFarland. When Anaheim hired Pat Verbeek, the Geese, during their search, asked for permission to check with MacFarland, and he would have been a really legitimate contender there. On the time, Joe Sakic was still the GM. He spoke to MacFarland first, and he asked him, I went through my old notes, he asked him what he desired to do.
And McFarland’s answer was, he would love to be a GM. He would favor to be in Colorado, but when Sakic was unwilling to present up the spot, he would love the chance to attempt to do it some place else. Well, what Sakic did was, he denied permission and eventually promoted MacFarland to the GM. So, obviously the organization values him highly.
So, what I’d say is that I don’t consider anything is finished. I don’t consider that Colorado has allowed him to speak or would allow him to speak during this season. I believe he’s still under contract, but I do consider that Nashville would potentially ask.
And the opposite thing here is, from what a pair of individuals, because this was this caused some buzz across the NHL. The opposite word on him is that, he’s not going to depart Colorado unless it was similar to an enormous step up. And you understand, I just don’t know that that’s what Nashville would wish to do.
So I believe it’s just, the safest method to put it’s, I don’t consider they’ve permission to check with him. I don’t consider there’s any agreement in place. So I don’t consider that is anywhere near as far along because it’s been suggested.

But do I believe it’s possible they may ask to check with him when Colorado’s season is over? Yes. But I believe the concept that it’s a done dealer, he’s 100% going there. I believe that’s way, way, way premature.”
