Samoa Joe will likely be taking a while away from AEW television over the approaching months.
During this week’s edition of AEW Collision, the show cut backstage for a segment featuring The Opps — Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, HOOK, and Anthony Bowens.
Through the segment, Joe revealed that he’ll be stepping away for some time, explaining that “Hollywood got here calling.” Before leaving, he told the remainder of the group to maintain things running easily in his absence.
There’s currently no confirmation on what project Joe is working on, though this isn’t the primary time acting commitments have pulled him away from AEW. Previously, Joe has taken breaks to film Peacock’s Twisted Metal series, where he plays the role of Sweet Tooth.
Twisted Metal has already been renewed for a 3rd season, which is currently slated to debut in 2027.
