The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a historic victory within the IPL 2026 Grand Final, defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 31. A disciplined bowling performance followed by a clinical batting display allowed the franchise to say consecutive Indian Premier League titles.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to field first under heavy evening dew. The choice proved correct because the Bengaluru pacers found early movement. Opening bowler Josh Hazlewood provided the initial breakthrough by dismissing the damaging Jos Buttler for 12.
Soon after, Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Gujarat captain Shubman Gill for 28 runs, breaking the core of the Titans top order. Sai Sudharsan offered some resistance with a gradual 42 runs off 34 deliveries, but he struggled to speed up against high-quality spin.
All-rounder Krunal Pandya delivered a highly economical spell in the center overs, ending with excellent figures of two wickets for twenty-four runs in his 4 overs. A late cameo of 31 runs from Rahul Tewatia managed to push the Gujarat Titans to a modest total of 158/7 of their allotted 20 overs.
