Angela Hill vs. Jingnan Xiong prediction, odds, pick for UFC Macau

Angela Hill (18-16) has gone 13-16 during her UFC tenure since 2014. She comes into this fight off back-to-back losses against Iasmin Lucindo and Fatima Kline, splitting her last six appearances at 3-3. She retains a top-15 rating and will still see a small jump with a win over a hyped prospect here. Hill stands 5-foot-3 with a 64.5-inch reach.

Jingnan Xiong (19-2) will make her UFC debut as she crosses over with a 10-1 record inside ONE Fighting Championship since 2017. Winning a strawweight title in only her second ONE fight, Xiong posted seven consecutive title defenses and owned one in all the organization’s most dominant title runs. She is available in the slight favorite standing 5-foot-5 with a 64-inch reach.

Why Angela Hill Will Win

Angela Hill comes into her thirtieth UFC appearance with over a decade of experience under her belt, appearing in some classic fights through the years and at all times giving fans an exciting show. She’s come up short over her last two bouts and suffered consecutive losses for the primary time since 2022. She’s typically been consistent in bouncing back after losses and even at 41 years old she’s still continually evolving her skill set and finding recent ways to grow as a mixed martial artist.

Hill is best known for her traditional Muay Thai striking as she’s managed to perfect her own style through the years. She marches forward fearlessly and doesn’t waver an excessive amount of on allowing opponents to manage the striking distance. She’s very effective together with her kicks up the center and does great work peppering an opponents’ body together with her combos. It’ll take an excellent deal to complete her opponent inside the gap, but Hill can actually achieve this if she’s capable of catch Xiong early.

Outside of her striking, Angela Hill has done great work evolving her jiu jitsu and while Xiong won’t be an enormous grappling threat, Hill has been excellent in reversing positions and putting herself in an advantageous spot when on the mat. Expect the grappling to be her backup approach, but still could give her an edge if things aren’t working for her on the feet.

Jingnan Xiong has been one in all ONE’s most dominant fighters and abilities throughout the years, never hesitating to defend her strawweight strap and even moving up weight classes to challenge for other titles. She’s a hellacious striker with 10 knockout wins on her record and an actual mean streak when moving into the cage. During this fight, she should give you the option to let her hands fly and exhibit among the exciting striking that made her successful over at ONE.

Xiong has also been fighting since 2014 and although her level of competition is not quite as much as par with what Angela Hill has seen through the years, the style during which she beats her opponents is what’s most impressive. The UFC roster is lacking many brawlers and knockout artists within the strawweight division, so Xiong’s arrival should breathe some fresh air into the division and lift the stock of those fights.

Still, Xiong can have to be defensively-minded knowing Hill is an especially experienced striker. Hill can be very durable and hasn’t been ending inside the gap since 2019, doing so just twice during her whole profession. Nevertheless, Xiong could actually be the fighter handy Hill her first knockout loss given the ferocity of her striking style and power.

We should always have a fun striking matchup on our hands as each fighters will probably be seeking to stand and trade on the feet. Angela Hill is way more technical and experience on the feet against the next level of competition throughout the years. Jingnan Xiong has found great success in her own right and can look to bring her berserker style to the UFC women’s roster.

I expect Xiong to open with just a few heated exchanges as these two fighters mix it up early. Nevertheless, if Angela Hill can weather the early storm, she could have a solid probability coming back within the later rounds of this fight.

Still, Xiong must have the optics on her side throughout the striking exchanges and Hill has been known to be “robbed” on the scorecards. I feel this fight is more tailor-made for Xiong as she should get the close nod with a judges’ decision.
