The Gujarat Titans camp faced a daunting moment after the IPL 2026 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru when their team bus caught fire while getting back from the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans have faced a series of travel and scheduling challenges in recent days. The team played three successive playoff matches at three different venues and had only a single day to organize for the ultimate. After defeating Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at Mullanpur on May 29, they immediately travelled to Ahmedabad for the IPL 2026 final on May 31.
Their journey to Ahmedabad was further disrupted when their flight from Chandigarh was delayed because of opposed weather conditions, leading to the squad arriving late on Saturday. In keeping with reports, the delay also forced organisers to postpone the standard captains’ photoshoot with the IPL trophy ahead of the summit clash.
“We Bounced Back After Early Setbacks”: Shubman Gill Reflects on GT’s IPL 2026 Campaign Following Final Defeat to RCB
Gujarat Titans were thoroughly outclassed within the IPL 2026 final after being asked to bat first by RCB skipper Rajat Patidar. Their top order struggled and lost wickets early, putting the team under pressure. A fighting half-century from Washington Sundar helped GT recuperate and post a good total, however it ultimately proved insufficient against RCB’s powerful batting lineup.
Despite a transient hiccup in the course of the chase, RCB comfortably reached the goal to secure the title.
“I feel we were the most effective bowling sides within the tournament. The best way after we lost the primary two games – we got here back within the tournament after losing the primary couple of games – the best way we kept talking, kept pushing ourselves, kept difficult ourselves in numerous areas, and kept improving those 5 percent aspects,” Shubman Gill said in the course of the post-match presentation.
“We couldn’t recover from the road, but there are at all times things that you might improve on. And even when we had won the trophy, there have been still things that we felt as a bunch that we would have liked to work on,” he added.
