The choice committee headed by Ajit Agarkar has announced India’s squad for the 2026 Asian Games, set to happen at Korogi Athletic Park in Japan during September and October. The selectors met in Mumbai on Saturday, June 6, to finalise the travelling team.
The side will likely be captained by recent T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer, who replaces Suryakumar Yadav as leader. Suryakumar has also been unnoticed of the squad. Several members of India’s World Cup-winning squad have been included, including Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah also returns to the squad after being rested for the house series against Afghanistan and the T20I assignments against England and Ireland following a busy first half of the 12 months. Star spinner Kuldeep Yadav has not been included within the squad, ruling him out of all of India’s upcoming overseas assignments.
One other notable absentee is all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who recently picked up a back injury throughout the latter stages of the 2026 IPL. Nevertheless, he has been named within the ODI squad after reportedly clearing his fitness test ahead of the house series against Afghanistan.
