Former WWE and AEW star Maria Kanellis-Bennett has done all of it inside the skilled wrestling world, from competing within the WWE Diva Search, to helping reboot the Ring of Honor Women’s Division. The previous WWE 24/7 Champion started off as a valet, and has held a manager role throughout her profession. She discussed the diminished roles of managers with “Wrestling Life Online,” and said it’s because lots of people do not know easy methods to play the character.
“I feel it is a difficult character to do, because it isn’t like, once I first began in 2004, once I began, I used to be a valet,” she explained. “I walked on the market, I had a pair of legs, I could move my legs down there after which I smiled pretty after which I moved my legs on back. That was lots of what my job was for those first few years. It worked, since it was a damsel in distress and you could possibly see that I used to be a damsel in distress.”
Kanellis said as time went on, women were finally capable of do the things they were at all times able to doing. She called it a transition phase of the business determining what a valet even still is. Kanellis believes that each one things are possible if done right, nonetheless.
“I feel that character I played in 2004 continues to be very possible in 2026, if done right,” she said. “I feel that the strong, Chyna-type manager continues to be very viable in 2026. I feel that the Jim Cornette, but perhaps censored a bit, continues to be okay. Paul Heyman is doing it now, so it shows it’s still wanted, it’s only a matter of having the ability to do it.”
