Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira’s medical bans explained

Ilia Topuria broke each of his orbital bones during a TKO (corner stoppage) defeat at UFC Freedom 250.

Thankfully, the 17-1 UFC superstar won’t require surgery following the primary lack of his epic MMA profession.

The Association of Boxing and Combative Sports Commissions (ABC) has handed Topuria the utmost medical suspension.

‘El Matador’ must sit out for 180 days unless he’s cleared by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

It’s an identical situation for Alex Pereira after his TKO loss against Ciryl Gane within the UFC White House co-main event.

The previous two-weight UFC champion is suspended for 180 days or until a maxillofacial CT scan clears him.

UFC Freedom 250: Medical Suspensions List

On Wednesday, California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) executive director Andy Foster, who served as considered one of the pinnacle regulators of the event, provided MMA Junkie with the complete list of UFC Freedom 250 medical suspensions.

It shows that Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira should not the one fighters who could possibly be forced to take a seat out for six months.

Justin Gaethje, Aiemann Zahabi, and Steve Garcia have also been handed the utmost medical suspension.
