Thunder Rosa Calls For Equal Ground In Wrestling, CMLL Men’s Grand Prix 2026 Announced

CMLL has officially confirmed the date for its 2026 Men’s Grand Prix.

The event will happen on Friday, August 7, at Arena Mexico in Mexico City. That puts it just two days after AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, which is scheduled for August 5.

No competitors have been announced for the 2026 Men’s Grand Prix yet. The tournament has been running since 1994.

Thunder Rosa believes women’s wrestling has come a great distance, but there remains to be work to do.

During a recent interview with Houston Life, Rosa said the important thing to leveling the playing field is for people to simply accept that ladies can sell tickets and fill seats identical to men.

You may try some highlights from the interview below:

On the increased visibility toward women’s wrestling: “It’s incredible, but there’s still numerous challenges that include that. I feel the environment has modified very suddenly from last 12 months to this 12 months by way of like, equality in pay and every little thing. And in every single place you go, women have the identical issues.”

On what needs to vary to level the playing field: “I feel just on the whole in sports, people need to know that [women] are in a position to sell tickets, that we’re in a position to put people in seats. I mean, the WNBA is an ideal example of that. Women’s wrestling has been going strong for some time, and I feel like numerous the very strong matches have been the ladies’s matches on the PPVs. So I do know we will do this if we’re given the chance, and the time too, on television.

“It’s so competitive for ladies to be on TV, because there’s only certain spots that we will be in. But I feel that — for instance, in AEW what we were in a position to accomplish a pair years ago and even now with a few of the matches. Because they’ve been pretty intense — I don’t need to use one other [word for it], a bit of brutal too. However it’s like, women are in a position to show that we will just go as hard and we will be pretty much as good as the fellows. So we just need that little [tiny bit].”

PAC has officially challenged IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Shota Umino to a match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 28.

AEW posted a video of the Death Riders member issuing the challenge, as you possibly can see below:
